Kurt Steven Angle, better known as simply Kurt Angle, is a retired professional wrestler, Olympic gold medalist, podcaster and actor.

He was born in the Mt. Lebanon Township suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Angle didn’t wait long in life to get started in amateur wrestling, which he picked up from the age of seven, and soon began winning tournaments and championships in his home state.
Soon, Angle would go beyond Pennsylvania and start winning championships at a national level.
By 1996, his amateur wrestling level would rise to international, as he succeeded in qualifying for the Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Despite fracturing two of his cervical vertebrae, herniating two discs, and pulling four muscles in his neck, Angle went on to win gold in heavyweight freestyle wrestling.
Angle’s amateur wrestling success soon attracted the eyes of the professional wrestling world.
